What the world and our societies look like after this pandemic depends on how we collectively think about this time and in turn what we do. Español | Français The first thing to say is that projecting what the post-pandemic landscape will look like is not a matter of adept prognostication, whether through the dark arts or the dismal science. What the world and our societies look like after this crisis depends on how we collectively think about this time and in turn what we do. What we have already done and will continue to do flattens the curve, mitigates the horrific inequities wrought by this pandemic—in both health and economic impacts—and creates innovation in treatment and a future vaccine. We should eschew returning to some romanticized version of “normal” which obscures the injustice in our current reality . The trail of death and suffering that this horrific pandemic has created has also accomplished what years of advocacy may not have: it has pried open the grip that neoliberalism has exercised on our collective imaginations.
